The Other Side of Heaven’s Gates

My fingertips touch gently to sad lips.
A kiss imparted warm is blown your way.
The hand goes up as if to reach the sky
but softly bids farewell on arm a’sway.
We met, a babe and parent, new and young,
Your dedication to our God confirmed.
Wings carried milestones passed, each motion made
to take you onward bound, secure, affirmed.
Dear, who alone can capture life so full
Of vivid colors racing day to night?
Slow down, slow down, too quickly time has passed.
You’re fading from our view, toward healing light.
Sweet smiles and laughter dim, now memories drift
‘cross chasms you impart in hearts of love.
But we shall meet again, my precious one
the other side of Heaven’s gates above.
